We have a Merlin (v4 I believe) system and I am having trouble setting up an AA. I need the user at x122 to have an AA. I want this AA to give two options: pressing 1 transfers to his assistant(x127), pressing 2 goes to his VM. If the caller presses 1 and the assistant does not answer, I want it to go back to the AA(@ x122) or straight to x122's VM.

So, can this be done or is there a better way to do this other than with an AA?

Thanks!

The big question will be "what voice mail system are you using?"

What, exactly, do you hear when you log into voice mail? "Welcome to Merlin........" Mail? Messaging? Audix?

127 needs to be steered to 122's auto attendant, or have a phantom destination of 122's general mailbox.

We have an Audix VM system.

TouchTone, can you enlighten me on the how to's of "127 needs to be steered to 122's auto attendant, or have a phantom destination of 122's general mailbox"?

Thanks for your help.

OK, with Audix you create subscriber 122 as an auto attendant. Option 1 is to transfer to Ext. 127, option 2 is to transfer to an unused calling group. You can renumber the calling group to the 100's if that will make more sense for your setup.

Subscriber 127 is also an auto attendant, with the timeout option to transfer to the same unused calling group.

The unused calling group overflows to the voice mail calling group, to be answered by a mailbox on the Audix, with an extension number matching that unused calling group.

Ext. 122 is the message waiting receiver for the calling group.

You might also be able to make 127 the secondary extension for 122, as per this thread
That would take the transfer to 127, cover it back to Audix, and be answered by the 122 auto attendant again.
