We are using a PC in our company at present. This is the reception machine and is loaded with the software "Avaya Softconsole 1.58.02"

We are wanting to replace this machine with Win 7 x64 and would like to know how we would transfer this software and settings to the WIN 7 x64 PC?

This software is currently used by the receptionist to see incoming calls, transfer calls etc.

Also we do not have any discs, so some guidance into how to obtain this version or another latest version is also required

We have downloaded software from Avaya website; OSPC2_51_005 / CD_2.51.005. We are looking at the software\ospc\setup.exe and not sure if this is the correct installation executable.

Any and all information and advice is appreciated.

I would think you would need to contact Avaya and get a new license. Trying to transfer the software would be considered piracy.

A quick search shows that it is NOT compatible with Windows 7 anyway and that you need a different product.

Shows that 1.58.02 is not compatible with windows7. I am looking to find direction for an upgraded\more current version and best way to acquire it and get installed on windows7. goombawaho, do you have insight to what the latest version of softconsole is and installation directions for getting it on a windows7 machine?

The point is, I believe, that you need to contact Avaya and see what you can arrange in terms of licensing. Can you upgrade to the new product (because you owned the previous version) or do you have to buy a full version? Apparently nobody that has read this thread knows the exact answer or cost. The link provided doesn't mention licensing.

There is also an Avaya forum here that may be helpful.

Come over to the Avaya forum, we will help you over there. :)

FYI

Download and install the latest Phone Manager:
a sneaky public server with Avaya software on it found here

You will need the version here

On the old PC navigate to Docs and Settings / <user> / <Users Docs> / Avaya / IP400 / Profile and just copy the whole folder.

On the new PC launch PM and connect it to the PBX. Close PM and navigate to Users / <user> / <users docs> / Avaya / IP400 / Profiles.

Now compare what you have old vs new and copy the respective files to the new PC. Its mainly an .xml file.

This procedure is a bit flaky at best, and to be honest its more reliable to create and configure a new profile.

Actually looking at your OP again, looks like you are using a really old version.

This could be a problem.

Try the above and see. At worst it will reboot the switch if the version of SC is too new for the switch.

What version of IP Office is it?

I have been told by Avaya and others that we cannot accomplish this. Our Definity G3 is to old for an upgrade to OneX attendant...which is the newest version of softconsole. We are just going to keep the XP system in place running the antiquated soft console. Thank you all for input. These types of forums are invaluable. Regards,

You can't keep it forever, so you'd better start planning for motherboard failure or hard drive failure. Nothing lasts forever and you need a plan for that. You should have an image backup of the hard drive or a clone of it and maybe a spare motherboard (exact same model) if you're really going to try to go head to head with time.
