Transfer attachment from Outlook to NNTP Newsgroup

In VB 6, I'm using an Outlook object to read mailitems in a directory and posting them to a Newsgroup using CDO for Windows 2000. I can successfully post a message, but can't transfer attachments. Any ideas, suggestions, thoughts or experiences working with intranet Newsgroups, CDO or attachments would be greatly appreciated.
