Hi.
Can anyone tell me how I can transfer a table in Access to AS400? I converted the Access table to Excel, then saved it as .prn, but when the fields are too big, the data gets routed to another section when it reaches 240 characters. The column width seems to be crucial in the extracting as well.

Please advise.

Hi,
hope you have for example Client Acces Expres. There is as possibilíty to install excel add-ins for data transfer to/from Iseries. And of course you can use CA data transfer by which you can create new as/400 table, modify ,append and so on by excel datasheet data.

I have client access to transfer the files to and fro PC & AS400.

My problem lies with the data format of the table and attributes. When I save the data tables as a txt file, the column widths are distorted. AS400 does not recognize the formats I send up. When I save as .prn files, though column widths are preserved, there is a limit of 240 characters.

look at thread317-455615 this can be solved in the same way.
