My client receives calls that are not actually for them and would like to transfer the call instead of telling the caller the correct number to call. There are buttons programed to dial the number and those buttons work to place a call but can't figure out the procedure to get this call transferred and then be able to drop out of the call to free the line with the original caller now on the line with the correct business. Can this be done and if so how? Thanks.

try and enable the one touch transfer on the user that wants to tranfer
SourceNumber entry Enable_OTT

Thanks Westi, can you dumb it down a little for me please? I am not sure where I would do this at in manager software or from features on phone? Sorry have not heard of OTT. Thanks.

Go to the user, go to the sourcenumber tab, and enter Enable_OTT in manager

How about pressing Transfer, press the button programmed with the number on it, wait for the call to connect, press Transfer again

Why not take a look into phone user guide (how to transfer a call) and Manager help (about Enable_OTT).

Thank you for replies. I did look at the user manual and transfer button does not work at least not how it says in the user guide. I did not look at manager help about Enable OTT as I had no knowledge of it before today! That is the wonderful thing about this forum is sharing knowledge so I will check this out and try it. @ critchey, thank you for being specific. I think I got it now. All help is appreciated. At Westi, you were on point also I just didn't get it. Thanks. I will try tomorrow and see how it works and provide feedback.

the transfer doesn't work if it is a dial action without the Enable_OTT but even with it you will need to hit the transfer button I think.

It has been a while since I had my hands on that one.

If you can't get to it let me know and I can test it in the morning to make sure I didn't tell you cr@p

Sounds Good Westi. I will go there in the morning and will certainly give feedback or ask for more help! lol. Sounds like it will work. I've just never done this one yet. Looking forward to the successful call transfer!

update. I can conference the call and then drop out with the other two still connected but it is still going to tie up a line and I don't think there is any way around that so that the line would not be tied up. Probably best for them to just give the caller the correct number to call and let them handle placing a new call to the correct place. Thanks all for your input.

If you transfer the call to an external number it will use 2 lines.

You are correct but once you drop out of the call then it only occupies one line and the other two parties are still connected but your line is hosting the call and they don't want to tie up any extra lines.

Um, no, either the call comes in on one line and out on another, occupying 2 lines for the duration of the call, or you have a service from the phone company that sends the original incoming call back to the central office and reroutes it to the destination number, removing it from your system all together.
