Can anyone provide any clarification on the following:
7940 on a remote site, connected through 2821 voice gateway with no hardware DSPs. 7940 on central site, connected through 2851 voice gateway with hardware DSPs for transcoding. MPLS WAN link between the two sites.
In Region configuration in CM (4.1.3), calls between remote and central site set to use G.729 codec.
Am I right in thinking that calls between the two phones will use G.729 natively without transcoding from end to end ?
If not, is it the case that the remote phone will use G.711 across the WAN to the central site, and use the DSP resources on the central site to transcode to G.729 for the final hop to the central site phone ?
Thanks
