I'm using VERITAS backup exec for W2K and I keep getting an error that my transaction log has been deleted so it can't backup the store. I have no idea how this happened. The only help information I can find on this issue is that Veritas shows it as a vaild error, yet I can't find a listing of a solution. If I restart the service will that fix the problem?

Here is the Veritas error message:

Unable to attach to \\BTV-01\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group.

Incremental and differential backups are not possible, because one or more of the Microsoft Exchange transaction log files has been deleted since the last backup.

If I look at my transaction logs I notice I have 6 logs dating back to before this backup error started occuring.

I also have a file called E00.chk that says its Recovered File Fragments.

Does NTBackup work?

E00.chk tells which logs have been commited. You "can" stop the store and then MOVE all files out except the .edb's and .stm's and then start the store and try to backup. Dan

We had same problem .

We moved mailboxes to an empty store that was not backed up fully.

The message infact says that cannot make differential or incrementals because non full backup present.

hope this help.
