Can someone explain to me why Nortel training is so expensive? Looking at their website and classroom training is $1385, and CD training is $1150. This doesn't make sense. I am not using their classroom, instructor, or anything else when using the CD. Are they saying that their training is so good that they don't need instructors and the extra cost is just for taking up space in the room.

The whole idea of taking money for someone to
educate themself on their product seems to me
to be a rather idi&%¤¤@¤§ thing to do.
It should be in Nortels interrest that as many
as possible was familiar with their products.
Just to use it as a way of making $$$ is
probably doing more bad than good for them.

Unfortunately this is how most of the computer industry works. The reason is not the widley held belief that it is to recover costs, but in fact, they charge a premium as it has the potential of making the end user money. As they can't directly charge for each bit of profit you make from it, in this case improved career prospects and hopefully more money, they chuck on a huge, great premium.
It for this reason that a computer game will cost a 50th of the price of the art software used to create it, although technically the game may be more complex to create.
After all do you think that the instructor leading each course get $100 per hour per person?
