Quick question(s),

Can a complete traffic study be peformed by simply polling the switch ONCE early in the morning, every day? I have a vendor peforming a traffic study and I have yet to see them dial into the switch. It is a 12 hour study/day for about 2 weeks (4th day so far).

They told us they need only dial in once eary in the am hours.

I was under the impression that you had to poll atleast every hour or so, (specially since they are charging by the hour).

I checked the TTY ports, only the maintenance terminal had TRF enabled, the SEB port doesn't even have it enabled, neither does the CORE ports. The only other port is the "CPSI" (I forget what port this is for?).

I turned off TRF on the maintenace port since it kept locking up whenever it "dumps" all that data so now only the CPSI port has TRF enabled.

How else are they doing this study? No tech has even been on site, no OTM. Only way in remotely is through the SEB or Core modem, unless they were somehow using the maintenance term port...

Thanks.

If they have set up a Traffic History buffer, it can hold 64kb of Traffic text - but at least one "real" TTY must have TRF in the USER field for the history file to populate.

Here is pat of my CFN that shows how I use that. 64k will hold a whole day of typical traffic in 30 or 60 minute periods.

How do you creat the TRF ADAN, I tried adding this to my Option 11C but I can't get it to take?

I logged into one of our Option11's to be sure it worked! Good news it did and in fact I had it on already.

You need to have "some" regular TTY that has USER TRF before you can create the TRF log file TTY. I added TRF to a TTY port we typically don't use often.

I would never have TRF on a TTY if not for this history thing...very cool too. I just stumbled upon it a while back and wow, it has helped us a lot as I use it once a week just for Console stats
