The other day I was having a conversation with a friend from my PC using Cisco IP Communicator, so was my friend. We have CCM 4.1(2). During the call I popped up a command prompt and did a netstat -ano. The only established connection was with the CallManaer machine at port 2000, NO other connections were in the ESTABLISHED state. I thought I read somewhere that my conversation flows directly to and fro the person I'm having the call with? Is this right, or have I missed something?

This is because the RTP streams use UDP so a session isn't established - UDP is connectionless. If you do a 'netstat -a' you should see that you have a listening UDP port in the ranged 16384 - 32767. The UDP port numbers the RTP streams use are negotiated as part of call setup so it will be a (semi) random number.
