hi ALL, i have an NT4.0 domain and an AD 2003 server domain connected with a Cisco router. I have a one way trust where the nt4.0 domain trusts the 2003 domain.

When I try to add 2003 server users permissions on the nt4.0 domain resources, I get a "domain controller not found" error on my nt4.0 domain controller.

What am I missing? Do I have to have a static WINS entry on the nt 4.0 server? I can ping the 2003 server by server name from the nt4.0 domain controller.

Thanks

Try using lmhosts entries on the NT side pointing to the PDC emulator, and on the (2003) emulator back to the NT PDC. I've had to do this before between NT and 2003 domains - for some reason, the WINS doesn't play well together. If you don't have WINS at all, then that's why it's not working - trusts use NetBIOS.

This is the example from the lmhosts.sam file.

So, it goes:
IPAddress <tab> servername <tab> #PRE #DOM:domainname (of trusted/trusting domain).
