Is there anyway I can update/show my work complete in hours/days rather than %? I am using Project 2002.

I have a number of tasks, fixed duration, with a number of resources assigned. Ideally I would like a way of flagging/reporting that based on the current date I have x hrs planned remaining on that task and should of used x hours or that resource 1 has x hours remaining and should of used x hours. Is this possible? If not does anyone have any recommmendations for other software which can?

If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

This is extremely easy to do in Project. The hard part is getting accurate input from the resources regarding the amount of work they have done.

View | Task Usage. Make certain you have the Work, Actual Work and Remaining Work columns displayed.

I'm looking for a way of showing hours remaining from the current date without needing to fill in the actual work section. as I am trying to report predicted hours remaining rather than predicted - actual remaining.

So for example if i've allowed 100hrs for a project and its the 4th today so how many hours should i have left for this month / next month / the rest of the project. rather than i've planned 100hrs, actaully worked 60 so have 40 left. So that the time predictions are not being led by the resources actual time sheets.

thanks

without needing to fill in the actual work section". So you're assuming that everything will happen as you predicted. I predict your prediction won't work.

Use this formula for Number1 and the copy and paste the Number1 column data into the %Work Complete column.

(ProjDateDiff([Start],date())/ProjDateDiff([Start],[Finish]))

Thank you for pointing me towards custom formulas. however the one above isn't providing the data i require. In words the formula I need should be.

Remaining Work(total work - work of duration period start date to current date)

this is all new to me and any suggestion on how i shoud set this formula out would be very much appreciated.

(Things never go as predicted but if these figures as well as the actual will make the powers that be happy....)

After applying the formula and doing the copy-paste just look at the Remaining Work column.

That's perfect. You are a MS project god. thank you.

One final thing. Is there a way of inserting the Remaining Work Column into the workload - task usage report?

Thanks
