Tracking multiple date fields

Hi,
I am currently trying to build inpromptu reports and a powerplay cube which will compare three different date fields against base dates for trend reporting. Does anyone know a way (is it possible) to get Transformer (v 6.61) to put together a standard base time dimension without reference to a particular date/time field?

Also can anyone recommend any books on transformer/inpromptu. Amazon only lists 1 cognos related book in existence.
