I need to be able to track a users email activity. Who this person is send email to and who they are receiving email from and a total number is messages in the users mail box. Is there a way to do so in Exchange 5.5?

Thanks

Enable message tracking in the IS Site Configuration properties and the MTA Site Configuration properties. You will then find the tracking info in the x:\exchsrvr\tracking.log directory. The files are named according to date. This will help you determine where the user is sending and receiving mail, but it will take some work to sort through the logs. You will also not be able to see the contents of messages.

What you could do is simply open the users mailbox periodically. If you have administrator rights in Exchange, you can open any mailbox you want. Be sure to have written direction from a company executive before doing this, though, so you are protected from potential legal ramifications.
