Our CIO would like an estimate of the number of mail messages handled by our Exchange 2000 server on a daily basis - by tomorrow. Our Exchange "guy" is not available, so it has fallen on my shoulders. I've scrounged the web but am unable to come up with a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Alan

Create a performance monitor with the following counters...

MSExchangeIS Mailbox: Messages Sent
MSExchangeIS Mailbox: Messages Delivered

Write down the current number and let run for 24hrs. Get the difference between the starting and ending numbers. This will give you a fairly good estimate of how many messages pass across the system.

Thanks for your input, folks. The first option seems to give me pretty good data. The limitation of using Message Tracker Center is it cuts off at 1000 messages. We're running about 15 times that.

Thanks again!
