Trackball mouse not working

Hi,

My colleague has a trackball mouse which has stopped working. He took out the ball and cleaned the wheels, looks all fine but mouse still doesn't work.

Can anything be done to repair? I've never even seen the inside of a trackball or anything other than a regular mouse, so I am completely unable to help him.

Do a diagnostic first, plug in a standard mouse and see if it works.

What part of the trackball doesn't work, the buttons or the XY axis movement [left/right or up/down]?
