Hi

Is it possible to track changes made to documents in InDesign?

For example, if I design a new document and save it in January, can I update it in February and have something there that will tell me which area of text/picture/table was updated and that this is the current document.

Bear in mind that we are talking about 100's of changes taking place. And the only way we have of making sure we know which document is the most recent is by changing the file name each time.

Cheers,

If you have multiple users, and this appears to be big time editing, Version Cue comes as part of the Creative Suite premium. This is a type of "check out - check in" thingy for multple users to track changes and keep everyone on the same page. It's kind of complicated so I'd suggest you go to adobe.com and look it up.

Double clicking on any item in the links window provide info on that linked item - including mdoificatin date.

My own personal trick for keeping things current - a normal client approval process for ANYTHING will entail at least 25 changes, even for a basic poster - is to always Save As. I've been using this trick for the past 12-15 years for just about everything. A new doc starte today would be something like "2005 Program 04-05-1 - thodays date with version. A change today would be 04-05-2. Tomorrow would be 04-06-1, 04-06-2 etc. It might seem complicted but it's just a key combo and a quick enter of a number or 2. That way I always have a complete record of everything - which also comes in handy for billing.
