Tracing errors in call prompts

I recently had problems with system prompts in my CRS Admin server. I uploaded them, listened to them, and everything seemed to be correct until it actually triggered on a holiday and the prompts did not work.
How do I test to see if a given message will work? put it into a test script and fire it off?

What trace files do I turn on and where can I read them? any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using Cisco Application Administration - 4.0(4)SR01_Build029

what is the correct format of the message?
