How do you stop a trace route before it gets to the last hop when you are running the trace from within the Cisco Router? Donald H. Heritage

Depends on how you are connecting to the device. Most telnet applications I've used don't xmit the correct characters. The ctrl-shift-6 is really ctrl^. The hex character value of ^ is 0x5E and the ctrl combination decreases the value by 64 so ctrl-^ is 30, or 0x1E. I mapped F1 to 0x1E and when I want to break I just hit F1 then x.
