hi im trying to track down a person who i think is my girl friends ex bf but i dont wanna be an asshole without proof since my gf thinks hes still a nice guy and i would really love to prove her wrong since hes been sending me hate mail. ive already tried whois but all i get is the network provider like yahoo or road runner etc. is there any way to get more a more specific response then that? and id rather not pay the 400 + dollars to get a pro email trace done unless someone would do it for less so if theres a way to do it easily myself it same me money.

1) Nothing can trace an email farther back then the server that sent it, unless it is already in the email header.

2) tracert is a command already included in Windows, traceroute in linux and OSX, no need to pay for it.

3) Bad mouthing other people will NEVER help YOUR relationships, so I would drop the whole plan.

I'm with jimbopalmer. Even if you 'could' trace it back, it's a really bad idea to go around trying to prove that people aren't nice. You will usually end up looking worse.

Complain to "abuse@whatever_domain_the_message_came_from.com".

Or simply ignore them.

Jimbo is right....block the messages as spam and get back to worshiping your girlfriend. Forget about the EX - he's an EX - You don't have to prove he's an idiot - she will figure this out on her own. Have faith, put it out of your mind, and focus on makeing her feel special.

I think he may be worried about the fact that she's answering his emails, and that she says that he's a nice guy. I know this is not a relationship forum, but...well, sorry bro. I would let it happen, and see what they talk about. Or, change your email address, and if he sends an email to the new address, you know that she's the one that gave it to him.
