New to COGNOS, wonderful too, but at a standstill.

When I check the scope of the dimensions they are properly highlighted when I choose the Data Sources.

Warning: (TR2718) Dimension 'Num' has no measures associated with it.
During PowerCube generation, no data source will be able to provide data for this dimension.

Warning: (TR2718) Dimension 'Line' has no measures associated with it.
During PowerCube generation, no data source will be able to provide data for this dimension.

Code:
Data Sources

DOCUMENT
-ID
-Name
-Num
-Line
-Product
-Type

REGISTER
-Loc
-ID
-City
-State
-Total
-Sum
-Tax
-Extra
-Grand Total
Code:
Dimensions:

Loc,City,State,ID,Num,Line

Measures:
Total, Sum,Tax,Extra,Grand Total

I dragged field Loc into dimension Loc, City into dimension City, State into dimension State,
ID (from both data sources) into dimension ID, Name and Num into dimension Num and Line into dimension Line.

Dragged Total into measure Total, Sum into measure Sum,
Tax into measure Tax,Extra into measure Extra and Grand Total into measure Grand Total.

Any suggestions?

Wolves,
To expand on the error message, the problem is that the data source DOCUMENT does not have a relationship to the measures that come from REGISTER with respect to the dimensions Num and Line.

In order for these dimensions to be 'active' (and avoid the error), you need to define a relationship between DOCUMENT and REGISTER. Not knowing your data, it's hard for me to be certain here, but I suspect that if you put ID as a level below both Num and Line (and define them as unique), then the cube should build ok.

if you haven't done so, you'll also need to set the level ID (in the dimension ID) as unique, so that transformer can relate the two data sources for that dimension.

(The reason you did not get the message in respect of Loc, City and State is that those items come from the same data source that contains all the measures).

Post back if you're still in trouble. BTW, there should be a pdf in your installation called step-by-step transformer that is a good place to start on the general principles of transformer.
