I have a tp 760l, I took the old hard drive out 1.2gig and put in a formatted 20gig hd, the system wouldn't recognize the new hd so I put the old one back in and now ot won't recognize it either.
I did a check on the system board and cpu, both checked out ok, when I start the commputer it sequestes me to put in a disk but I don't know what disk it is asking for. any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Have you tried going into the BIOS and doing an Autodetect on the drives, see if they are detected in there.

Hope this helps

I have, it says it is cnnected, but it isn't highlighted and doesn't know it's there.
I do heare it running and it works on other machines.

What is a TP 760I? Is it an IBM Thinkpad 760?
My problem is with the TP 360 CSE a 486 notebook. But it does not seem to recognise the hard drive at all.
Anyway my guess is motherboard. have you tried other drives?
Sounds like you forgot to upgrade the bios before installing that hard drive though.
