Totals across subreports

Hi All,
How do I pass a total value from a subreport to the main report. The idea is to take the totals from the subreports and total it up in the main report. If there's a better way of doing this other than what I'm thinking please let me know,

You must use a shared variable to do this. For example in the subreport:

WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared Numbervar Tot:=sum({YourField})

In the main report:
WhilePrintingRecords;
Shared Numbervar Tot;
