hey all il keep it short and sweet, this mystery has all ofmy mates stumped. I had a old packard bell :S (I know) I then baught a brand new mother bored with a 1.7 gig athlon processer. I had a new power pack and new sound and modem. I allso have 198mb of ram. Now since i have had this new comp it has been crashing with all game that use direct X such as Alien vs pred 2 but are working fine it games such as empire earth. i got the lastest drivers for my graphics card (32meg TNT 2) andall direct x drivers. the games still crashed. I formated my hard drive and reinstalled all drivers, still crashes. I have now upgraded to XP and it crashes without games. The only thing is can say about the crashes is that if a sound is playng it will loop. But it has crashed in windows when i run 2 many programs. I meen i have 198 ram and i have 3 megs left onmy hard-drive. WHATS UP PEOPLE. sorry about the lennght but i reely need this fixed.

are you sure you mean "3 megs left onmy hard-drive"???

what did you keep from your packard bell? just the hard drive? or is this a completely new computer? it sounds like you may need a new HDD if that's the only old part. they don't last forever, you know.

especially if you only have "3 megs left on my hard drive."

Sometimes if you buy a cheap sound card it wont work with your games but only for standard use like playing music etc.
So if you bought a cheap sound card try to spend a little more money on it.
