I have a client that needs to add more VM seats to his BCM50 6.0. He has 8 right now. this brought up a questions. How many total VM seats can a BCM50 6.0 accommodate? I know it uses Auth Codes but is there any additional Expansion modules needed or is this all done internally on the hard drive from the main unit?

System is initially configured 0x0. By adding keycodes the main unit can be configured with up to:
4 analog trunks
12 digital stations
4 analog stations
32 IP stations
12 IP trunks

Up to 2 expansion units can be added which allow 1 media bay module each. These can be used to add digital stations, analog stations, digital trunking and/or analog trunking.
The BCM has 10 voicemail ports built in with 0 mailboxes. Voicemail boxes can be activated by keycodes (up to 1000) with 100 hours of storage time

Thanks for this. I am so use to MICS and CICS that this is a whole new world, but I am a fast learner and getting the hang of it.

I have looked around and have found suppliers of the keycode including Metroline Direct. However I am confused about one more item. They indicate that they sell the license but that for an additional amount they can ACTIVATE the keycodes. I thought that once I bought the keycode and entered it in that was that? Does this apply for all upgrades or just ones that require additional hardware like expansion modules?

For example this BCM has 4 Analog lines, 8 Digital Sets and 8 VM Seats. I am adding 4 more Analog lines, 8 more Digital Sets and 8 more VM seats. I know that I need to add an 8x16 ( this will give me a little growing room on both the lines and sets ). I need ( 1 ) 8 port additional VM seats keycode & ( 1 ) Expansion keycode. Do I need anything else and what about this "Activation" thing?

Here is the link on Metroliie Direct, they show a drop down at the bottom of the page that says "Activation 60.00"

Thanks

P.S Oh yes, I believe I will need an additional MBM module for the 8x16 cartridge.

You're actually buying an auth code. Then Metroline or any authorized dealer has to access the KRS with your system ID to generate the new license file (keycode) for your BCM-50. Prices for activation vary among authorized dealers.

Check the current keycodes with Element Manager or F9*8 to see if you have any expansions activated. If 1 or 2, then all you need is an expansion unit and the module. If none, then you also need an expansion keycode.

Thanks.. One would think that activation would be automatically included like it does for example with a PRI on a MICS.

I also posted a question about using Message Forwarding on a Call Pilot. Can you reply to that new post?

Thanks
