Total newbie question re: inserting swf into a scene 1

I am trying to insert a swf I created in SWISH into a scene. I have imported the swf into my library but everytime I bring it into my scene it does not animate and goes from 120 frames to over 500. I know I must just be leaving out some step. I am trying to put the swf on its own layer.

Btw, the swf is a typing sequence, just text. Using Flash MX, SWISH 2.0
