Toshiba XP PRO upgrade problem

Does anybody know how to install XP PRO or Win2000 on new Toshiba notebooks?
It came with XP Home and "restore" disk with Toshiba Windows.
It freezes in 20 seconds when you attempt to upgrade.
Tech support says that it should work w/out problem but it doesn't work at all.

If you are upgrading make sure you turn of any Anti Virus type software (including anything run by the bios).

How about USB? If you've got USB devices, unplug them until you're done with the initial install, then plug them in and install them once the system is up and running.

What is the version of XP you are upgrading to?

Retail “Full” - Clean Install & Upgrade.

Retail “Upgrade” - Clean Install & Upgrade;
Requires you to have Qualifying Previous Version (ie your Windows 98 CD).

OEM “Full” - Clean Install only;
No Microsoft Support.
