I got a refurbished Stratagy Flash 4 port unit to replace a very old Stratagy PC which finally gave out. The Flash unit did not come with Admin software disk. I bought software for $100 which loaded R3Admin on my Admin PC, also bought special cable for it. I connected the cable to Port 2 on the Stratagy Flash, but ADMIN program won't connect. It seems to detect no connection and drop through to prompt for Remote connection. Any idea what might be wrong? Flash unit seems to operate properly, but I need to change the setup.

The special cable sounds odd, unless I don't have the same Stratagy unit that you do. I just hooked mine up to the laptop with a standard serial cable and away I went. You can also dial into it. I program my modem to dial into a port that gets answered by the auto attendant and then transfer the call to mailbox 993 I believe, so my dial string is like 555-1212,,,993. That dials the number, allows for the auto attendant to answer and then transfers to an extension. The only thing I can't remember is if I had to use a null modem adapter or not, but I'm tening to believe I didn't.

The software is not that hard to figure out, but they were kind of stupid when they designed it and they require the password for just about everything so you are typing it constantly - I'm surprised a password isn't required to logoff! They also have an interesting way of chaining mailboxes together - if you plan on doing any menus or automated attendant stuff take some time to get the feel of it before venturing off...

Thanks for the response. I had my cable connected to the wrong port on the Stratagy. I see your point about the password!!!
