I own a Toshiba e740 and have for the past 10 days.. in that time I've had to do a hard reset on average every other day due to it freezing up. Am I the only one with this problem or is it more common than I am thinking? this is my 2nd toshiba product that has been trouble prone, and now I am thinking it is going to be my last Toshiba product. the unit freezes up at various times. during sync, during data entry, during file viewing and even playing cards on occaision.

I had a number of initial problems with my Toshiba e335. I found Toshiba's tech support to be excellent. They recommended doing a soft reset (little hole on the back of my PDA) that keeps data in tact, once a week. Another recommendation was to stop programs from running. Even when you close the program it is still running. Click Home. Then chose the running tab. Hold stylus on the page and chose stop all. These two suggestions have helped me. I know the hardware is not the same, but maybe it will help you.

Thanks for the advice.. I had tried the soft reset any number of times to little or no avail. I have since returned the PDA for refund.

Man,
I wish I had seen this post earlier.

The Toshiba E740 is an incredible device. I'm on my 2nd one now. The first one I kind of goobered. I noticed that I had to do the same thing the first couple of days I had it. Then I realized that the programs that I had started before had never actually stopped when I closed them.

I found a little utility that would sit at the top of my screen and all I had to do was click on it and choose what I wanted to fully close.

It worked wonders and I ended up not having to reset it as often. Sometimes (like maybe once a week or so) it does start freezing up on me, but not like it did.

I did notice that the more memory I had used the more it would freeze. I increased the memory size (software setting) and that also seemed to relieve the problem. Also, not keeping a lot of mail on my device helped it.

I'm very happy with mine and I use it almost as much as I use my laptop.

Did you end up getting a different PDA? If so, what did you get?
