Using v2008, I have no problem using the group sort expert to create a TopN to equal whatever I want it to be. However, in the case of a particular report I am writing, a cross-tab is the best way for me to present the data I need to present. I created the crosstab assuming that the TopN I had set in the group sort expert would apply, which it does not. Is there a way to set the crosstab up in such a way as it only shows the TopN equal to whatever I may want it to be? Please advise.

You can select the upper left (empty) corner of the crosstab and then go to report->topN/group sort. This will allow you to sort by the row totals.

Right click the crosstab > Group Sort Expert > For this group sort > Top N.
