Good afternoon. I'm currently investigating an intermittent performance issue with a p50 and have been using topas amongst other things to monitor this. topas shows a %Client value of +30% all/most of the time. Reading around this, I take it that %Client is the % of real memory currently allocated to cache remotely mounted files. The box is running two Oracle 9i databases using a java web interface. Does this >30% figure sound reasonable in these circumstances? I can give more details/data if required.

All input gratefully received.

Hi Ken,

I do not have any Oracle databases running on my servers but I do have a very heavily loaded Java web interface (Websphere App Server) up and running. %client on that server is 0.5%. Hopefully this gives you a good refernce number for the Java part of the equation. Also, I am running AIX 5.1 ML7 on that server. I'm sure someone else has Oracle 9i up and running to give you the info you really need.

Interesting` Jim, thanks. We'll see what the Oracle guys and gals think.

%client reflects also jfs2 memory usage I believe.
