When I'm running Topas I often see high numbers for PgSp for java and mysqld , yet on the right hand side the paging stats look fine. Any idea what this column really represents?
Name PID CPU% PgSp Owner
topas 95446 1.0 2.8 root
syncd 4472 0.0 0.6 root
mysqld 11642 0.0 37.4 mysql
java 45894 0.0 72.7 root

PAGING SPACE
Size,MB 4160
% Used 0.6
% Free 99.3

Thanks in advance
Norm

PgSp shows the size of the paging space allocated to this process. This can be considered an expression of the footprint of the process but does not include the memory used to keep the executable program and any shared libraries it may depend on.

Paging Space

Size,MB
The sum of all paging spaces on the system, in megabytes.
% Used
The percentage of total paging space currently in use.
% Free
The percentage of total paging space currently free.

Thanks, does this mean that when I'm seeing these kind of numbers that it is using up all of the paging space momentarily and then releasing the space?

No it's space that could/would be used if needed.
