Regarding TOP, just downloaded zip file from sunfreeware.com
(top-3[1].5_12-pkg.zip)and unzip and extracted the file called SFWtop on my sunos 5.8 box. Tried to execute but it has failed. Any idea how do I enable this.

Thanks for your time and help.

This is a package file and needs to be pkgadd'ed. See the man page for pkgadd for instructions (usually pkgadd -d <path to file> <package name>)

Hi,

As you are on 5.8 why not try the &quot;prstat&quot; command that comes with the software? it's Sun's answer to top.

Try this. If the file that was extracted was [tt]SFWtop[/tt], then [tt]cd[/tt] to the directory it's in and type the following (as root)...
[tt]
pkgadd -d ./SWFtop
[/tt]
Follow the prompts.

If this is not a package file, you'll get error messages.
