This probably has a very simple answer. The second menu bar from the top has disappeared. It is the one that's under the menu bar that begins with FILE. For instance, if I chose to use the pen tool, it would be the menu bar at the top that allowed you to choose the shape pen or path pen. It was there last week. I've looked through all of the views. Nothing. Any ideas. I am using Illustrator 10. Thanks for any help.

From what I recall from AI 10 you would find those options under the tool flyout: click and hold over a tool in order to display the flyout; click on the button to the far right to make it permanently visible.
If that's it, once you have it visible, place it where you want it and save this workspace setting, so that if it ever disappears again you can simply load the workspace and everything goes back to its place.
