Hi, I wonder if I can ask for some help please....

I visited a website which reset my home page s, so I tried to reset it by using the tools,Internet Options whilst the browser was open, but I am getting a message saying "Restrictions. This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator".

If I access properties from the IE 5.5 desktop shortcut I can access the properties and have reset the homepage (I cant remember the original site...)

I have scanned this site and found a few mentions but they mostly point to the MS knowledge base which recommends re-extracting Inetcpl.cpl, which I have done but still no luck, Ive also removed the policy link mentioned in another post, resinstalled ie 5.5, repaired it, virus scanned etc but still no joy.

Has anybody any ideas??

Thanks in advance

PaulSc

Check if the following registry key exists HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Control Panel
Under this key see if HomePage = 1 exists.
A value of 1 will enables the restriction, removing the string disables it.

Thanks for responding.
This key wasn't there, however someone at work suggested that the password file (*.pwl) may have been corrupted so I deleted this, re-booted and reset the password and its now working ok.
