After creating a rule (simple outta office reply w/text) once you checkmark the box to make active, what is the RUN button supposed to do?

Each time I've created a rule, and hit the RUN button, it always says, "Rule Execution Failed"

It appears the RULE works fine, I'm just curious what this "RUN" is supposed to do.

Thank you.

The RUN button is used for "User Activated Rules", as opposed to the trigger activated rules that are normally created.

Thanks for the fast response gioffre.

Forgive the n00b questions, but what's the difference between User Activated and Trigger Activated? Please elaborate just a lil'bit more.

Does that refer to when the user defines additional filters/Define Conditions?

Thanks again.

This refers to the type of event that is used to trigger the rule. If you look at the "Events" choices you have something like New Item, Filed Item, Open Folder, Close Folder, Startup, Exit, and USER ACTIVATED.
