Hi ,
I would like to know if there are any Tools that contact a database and create a ERD for it automatically.
I am aware of the "ERWIN" tool , but it has a drawback that no effective printouts can ever be taken out from this (because i have a medium sized database with several interconnected tables , the printouts run uncontrolled over several pages ).
The same applies for the "TOAD" tool .
If it is possible that effective printouts CAN be taken from these tools , i am not aware of it. Could you guide me regarding this ?

And ..... yes, before i forget ... free tools are prefered , but if there are no free tools for this , would certainly go in for paid versions.

Thanks. Regards,

Try to use Oracle Designer. It's a heavy-weight CASE tool, but its ER-Diagrammer is quite good.

Thanks guys !

Carp ,i have been experimenting a lot with ERWIn , but have still not found out how to take legible printouts from the tool .
There is also another assistance that i would require from you. Request you to please go through the following thread and give me your opinion on this , please : thread186-127954

Would appreciate your comments on these topics. Regards,

By "legible", do you mean something besides REALLY small font? I have also run into this, and found that it takes a lot of manual "enhancing"!

Yeah carp ,
do you think we can circumvernt this in any fashion ? I actually want to see the graphical representation of the tables and how they are related. Although ERWIN does this ,are you aware of any tool ( free , ofcourse ) that does this ?

Nope. The "free" stipulation REALLY makes it tough!

Oh then , okay.. if it comes to that , then i might as well go ahead and buy some of the tools available. Anyway , its not my problem at all. I just have to mention it to my company and they will purchase it for me. Just wanted to be sure about using company money rigghtly....... so is it easier now , carp , since i have removed the stipulation ?? LOL ! please do inform me of the Tools .
