I just got Illustrator and I don't have the ellipse, rectangle or any of the shapes, I can't find anything to bring it up. Any ideas?

Did you do a custom install? I've experienced the same problem when I did a custom install but when I picked a typical install, it installed fine.

Thanks for the response. Yep, I did a typical install and I even installed the trial version from the Adobe site... same problem. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it at least 10 times, there are 4 tools missing, ellipse, rectangle, brush and pencil. I've looked at every option in the Menus at the top but no luck. Maybe I'll try a typical install.

CaulX: I tried to reinstall it with Custom Install - didn't help so then I tried it with the Typical again. I think I've reinstalled it over 20 times, no luck. thaks.

jAQUAN: I tried to find the patches on the site but there is so much stuff that I have no idea where they are. Any suggestions on where these 2 patches are?

thanks again

Thanks for all the tips. I couldn't use the patch because it was for Illustrator 9 and I was trying to use 10. I just formatted my C drive because I was changing my OS and when i installed it again (Custom) it worked with all the tools. Everything is great now. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
