Toolbars change assigned macros

I created a toolbar with several icons and assigned macros to each. I created a template file and the macros are associated with this template. When I edit the template and then save it to another (*.xls) file the assigned macros change to the new saved (*.xls) file. When I open up the template and activate the icons, they open up the (*.xls) sheet and try to run the macros in the new (*.xls) sheet. How can I prevent the macros from being reassigned everytime I save the new (*.xls) file
