Everytime I open a new drawing, the toolbars around the graphic area move and delete themselves, I am using AutoCAD 2002 and trying out MDT 6, both AutoDesk products. Does anybody know if you can lock the toolbars in place so they don't move, and if you can how do you accomplish this task?

Manusoft has a nice program for locking toolbars (below), but toolbars do not usually change unless a profile is changed or a macro is attached. Do they change when you start AutoCAD or when you open a drawing when ACAD is already open? If they are different when you start up ACAD, then the startup has a profile switch turned on or a startup routine is working.

We have not found a pattern that it followes. For a while it was working great not moving anything around at all, and then all of a sudden it started deleting toolbars off the screen and moving them around, then when you opened an existing drawing everything would be different again, but sometimes when you opened an existing drawing it wouldn't change anything, same with openeing AutoCAD sometimes it would change sometimes it wouldn't. Are the toolbars maybe attached to the drawings themselves or are they attached to a seperate file on the hard drive.

Toolbars are defined in your menu files. If the menu files change then toolbars can change. You can also delete the menu files and AutoCAD will restore a generic menu in their place.

Hildy36,

Are you sure one of your co-workers are not playing a joke on you. Try setting up a profile name in options. Once you have it set you always can import it back if something happens. If different people use the computer you can have different profiles also.
