Hi everybody,

I am creating an application in Excel 2000 and I have created two custom command bars. I dont want users to be able to change the command bars so I have eliminated all access to the Customize Dialog Box except one. When you double click the left mouse button on the command bar the Customize Dialog Box is displayed.

Does anybody know how to completely disable the Customize Dialog Box??

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.

Hi - I just recently ran across this posting - I have a similar issue and found some answers at thread707-347456 if anyone needs.

- S Q: Why is my computer doing that?

S,

A star to you... This is one of those topics that surfaces from time to time and often requires a fair amount of digging combined with trial-and-error to discover a solution. It also points out the inconsistencies that come out of Microsoft's product development. For example, the OnDoubleClick event is only available in current versions of Excel for backward compatibility . It has been officially replaced with _BeforeDoubleClick events that apply to worksheets and charts only. These are not the same; using the worksheet version does not prevent double-click activation of the Customize dialog. As a second example, one might think that to avoid using the sledgehammer approach of turning off all double-clicks, the Protection property of the CommandBar object would be the ticket. This property can be set to msoBarNoCustomize and the user cannot add/delete buttons. Fine, as far as it goes. But there is apparently no setting that prevents the user from deleting the entire toolbar.

I'm stepping down from my soapbox now... [wink]
