Is there a tool that analyzes the boot record and the boot LV on a physical volume (PV) and tells me the OS (e.g. AIX 4.3 or AIX 5.1) that is on that physical volume?

Hello,
lslpp -l bos.up or
lslpp -l bos.mp will tell you.

Hi

Is the Disk Attached on a RS6000, or did you have booted from the Disk ?
You can boot in Maintennace Mode from a CD and import the rootvg
cd /usr/lib/boot
ls -la unix this will be linked to the kernel file
mp = Multiprocessor
up = Uniprocessor
