Tool Palettes in Illustrator

In illustrator my tool palettes have dissapeared, in the tool menu it says they are selected but I cannot see them, I have closed the program down and re-opened but they are still not there.

Try hitting Tab.

What happened?

Not quite sure, but it seems to have rectified itself, I think somehow the tool boxes went off the screen, went into the control panel and reset the screen and they appeared again, very strange!!

Were you aware that by hitting Tab you can temporarily hide the pallettes, and that by hitting it again they will return? This is helpful for those people who wish to temporarily hide the pallettes.

Yes, I was aware, but it didn't seem to bring them back.
