Too Many Open Files

I am getting the above message and i want to change the limit however i am unsure where to do it in openbds.

i found some information that you edit "/etc/sysctl.conf" and "kern.maxfiles" however that was not for open and i do not have that setting in my system.

To find out how many you have
sysctl kern.maxfiles

To make it larger
sysctl -w kern.maxfiles=3500
