Our company have some windows95 workstations connected to Citrix server via windows NT terminal server. Every time when a user finished using an application published on Citrix, it creats an icon on the desktop for that user. The problem is we have several users share the computer. When a different user use the same computer(login as different user to the network), she just simply click the icon and then a message pops up saying " the path not found"

I understand that they are different users and use different login and password. My question is this: is there any way to set up different login screen for different users for win95 computer so users wouldn't get confused. After a while, there are a bunch of icons on the desktop screen. It is hard to know which one is belong to which user. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you using Individual user profiles? This would cut-out the extra Icons.[pipe]

We are using individual user accounts on Citrix server runing on NT server, but not the individual user profiles on those Win95 computers where users can logon to the network.

Can you give me some ideas about how to create individual user profiles on Win95 computers?

Thanks a lot %-)

Create an Icon for each published app on the desktop...??? If you use "add ICA Connection" rather than "Published Application Manager" you should be able to create a Titled Icon for the Published App, if you leave the user name/password fields blank, users will then be prompted for logon details each time the session is started.....

Hope this helps.........

Open Citrix program Neighborhood, select "Settings" icon select "Default Options" tab and check box "turn off desktop intrigation for this application set" This removes the desktop icons so user will have to select applications from within Citrix program Neighborhood.

Thanks sincs, but I could not found the "Default Options" tab. The tabs are gerneral, Bitmap Cache, Hotkeys, Event Logging under Tools - Settings of Citrix program Neighborhood.

Am I missing some thing here? Am I looking at the same place as you mentioned? Please advise.

Thanks.

Instead of going to the file menu just go to the settings icon on the tool bar - you can also get it if you right click on an application and select "application set settings"

Under windows 98, should be the same in 95, you go to control panel/passwords/user profiles tab and make sure that users can customize their desktop and settings..... is checked. This way each person has their own desktop to view and it should clear up that problem. Each user will then have to delete the extra icons but anything added to their desktop while their logged on will only be seen to them. Hope that helps?

Another tid-bit, we don't have that feature turned on and also we don't allow the users to make a desktop icon for their various published apps because its created more headaches than its worth. Too often users would wonder why their icon didn't work anymore when maybe we upgraded or changed the path of a program on the server and the icon inside the program neighborhood would be correct, but the one they may have placed on their desktop a couple months ago is invalid now. This helps to keep from being bothered about another little thing.

Thank you all. I really appreciate your suggestions and tips. I have tried some of them, and they worked.

I have worked on some win98 computers today and found the following problem: turned off the connection setting as sincs suggested would only work for the current user. It returned the default settings back if I login as a defferent user, which would create icons on the screen. Normally, there are 10 to 20 users to use those computers each day. from the users point of view, it is very frustrating to see number of icons on the screen without knowing which one really works.

Do I need to turn off that setting for every user? Is there anyway that I can do to only have one setting done for the computer and work for all users? Please help!!!!!

Thanks.
