I have an XP system that I have loaded so many programs they won't all fit on the screen. Is there a windows solution or utility to fix this?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Are you talking about Programs (icons) on the Start Menu?

If you are you have certain options, via Start/ Properties, like use small icons or scroll programs - Specifies whether to display the items on the Programs menu as one long scrolling menu or as horizontal pages. Depending on your screen resolution, if you have more than 29 or 38 programs installed, and you select to have one long scrolling menu, you can access the programs you don’t see by clicking the arrow at each end of the list of programs.

Cursor on blank area of screen: Right click > properties > appearance > advanced > desktop > icon spacing. You can adjust both vertical and horizontal spacing. Bringing the icons closer together will give you more room on the screen.

You need to sort your program list into subfolders such as Office/Multimedia/Games/Security etc. To do this, using Windows Explorer goto:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs

...and you'll see the programs you see when you go Start>Programs - you can now sort these into folders. You'll also need to do the same in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
