Too many file formats

I only save files in gif, jpg, psd or tiff format, and I find it annoying to have to scroll through a list of useless alternative formats (such as pict, raw and scitex) to get to the one of my choice.
Does anybody know of any way (if there is any) to be rid of the extra ones?
Thank you in advance.

You could download "reshack" and then try to find the right .dll file that operates as the shell for Photoshop, then search through that mess and then delete the other entries.

Wouldn't suggest deleting these though, b/c you never know when you might need the others.

My method will work, but you're on your own, and it will take you along time to figure out how to do it and where to find it, probably not worth the time and effort.

Perhaps you could re-arrange the order if you do find the approproate string in 'reshack' and then you would have all of them but the commonly used ones would be first (no scrolling nessessary).

Hope this helps!

Spyderix,
thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded reshack (handy little thing) and found the dll containing reference to the file formats, but am unable to make any edits stick.
Any other idea?

You have to search through each dll file until you find it. It's there somewhere. Make sure you compile the script after you edit something and then make sure to save the file. It will save as a new file, and rename the old one to photoshop original (or something) so that you can revert to the old one if nessessary. Like I said though, you're on your own, I have never tried it, probably won't try it, and don't know where to look. It's basically trial and error until you get it right.

Hope this helps!

I feel your pain...
Write an ACTION to save your file in what ever format you want.
For example, I have an ACTION to image size my file down 50%
and then save as .jpg. Another on to do the same but in .gif.
Don't forget about the BATCH function too.

I've been hearing more and more about this, how do you do it? Actions and batches?

Thanks!

Dactyl,
that's a good idea, thank you.
Spyderix,
to create an action, in short, you go to the action tab and make sure it is not in button mode (you can click on the tiny triangle icon at the top right of the tab to see that option), then you can just press on the record button and stop once you are done modifying the file you are working on. There are actually many more options you can play with, but I'll let you have fun finding out.

OK, kind of confusing until you get the hang of it. How do I assign key commands to certain actions?

Action options (from the little triengle thingie)—there you can choose what to name it, its button color and the keyboard shortcut. Pretty nifty is the fact that it will automatically add a modifier (shift or control) if your shortcut is already taken.
