I am using an excel spread sheet and I am trying to hightlight or enter data into the sheet and I am getting and error "too many different cell formats". The sheet does have a lot of formating but I am not sure why I am not permitted to enter data? Is there actually a limit to the amount of formating a sheet will allow?

From Excel's help file:
....
Colors in a workbook 56
Cell styles in a workbook 4,000
....
Custom number formats Limited by available memory
....

Look up "Worksheet and workbook specifications" for more limitations.

I wonder if using styles would help to keep within the limits....And in particular making sure the normal style was the most commonly used.

Thanks,

Gavin
