Too long to save new group!

I have created a null group, then populate by adding selected contacts from another twelve groups. New group now has ~2300 entries. when I press [OK] I assume the new group is now being saved.
After 20 minutes it appears the application is locked and I abnormally terminate it.

How long should the save of a new ~2300 contact group take?

I visited the client today & timed the save of additional contacts into a null group.. after adding 12 groups ranging in size from 5 contacts to 485 contacts, I have observed that the time to 'save' the expanded group was exactly 1.6 seconds x the number of contacts added..

I have the detail numbers on a collaborative spreadsheet at Google if you care to see the actual numbers..

Interesting question as I was wondering if the configuration would affect the processing time.

Let's call it a LAN(ette) i.e. 2-machine LAN with the 2nd being the 'database' machine.

Are you running the activity on the machine with the database?

It will take time, but not over a second per contact unless the machine/lan is really slow or the database is to large for the hardware

I'd try doing anything with that much data being written on the machine with the database to see if it's the LAN
