Tones through ATA

I have hooked up a machine to pickup faxes though an ATA on my MICS R1T1 system. Will the ATA allow fax tones to be passed onto a fax switch to detect it and direct it to a fax or an analog phone?

It should... the fax switch will answer, and anything that is audio should go through... the ATA doesn't know if it's a fax switch, a fax, a cordless phone, a modem, a credit card reader, or whatever...

What you need is an ATX (Line Share Device) not an ATA since you want to receive voice calls, the ATX decides if it's a voice or fax and sends it to the right device (fax or phone).
The ATA would work well only if you wanted the line on your phone system for out-going only.
